Balika Parishad - Young girls serving society and spirituality

Balika Parishad’s Visit to Shrut Seva

At Balika Parishad, a group of young girls committed to social service and spiritual awareness, we believe that preserving our heritage is a responsibility shared by every generation. With this spirit, we recently had the opportunity to visit Shrut Seva, a noble initiative dedicated to preserving Jain religious books that are no longer properly maintained or circulated.

Shrut Seva plays a vital role in protecting and safeguarding sacred Jain literature. Many valuable religious texts often remain neglected due to lack of proper storage, care, or readership. Through this initiative, these books are collected, preserved, and organised so that the wisdom contained within them continues to remain accessible for future generations.

During our visit, the members of Balika Parishad actively participated in sorting and categorising the books. This process allowed us to closely observe the depth, diversity, and richness of Jain scriptures. The experience not only helped us contribute to an important cause but also strengthened our understanding of the spiritual knowledge contained within these texts.

For many of us, it was the first time participating in such work, and the experience left a lasting impression.

Khushi Sanghavi shared,

“It was truly an amazing experience, and I’m very grateful to have been able to help in arranging and organising the books at Shrut Seva. The process gave me a deeper understanding of Jain scriptures and the depth of Jainism. Being able to contribute to preserving our religious knowledge was very meaningful.”

Ayushi Sanghavi expressed,

“Yesterday for the first time I was involved in this kind of work. It was truly a mind-blowing experience. It is really helpful in gaining more knowledge about Jainism.”

Mokshi Dharu reflected,

“Yesterday I went to this library where they collect old books, mostly Jain books that people don’t read anymore. We helped in sorting and arranging them. Honestly, I just felt nice. Being a Jain girl, it felt a little more special for me. I felt happy that I could give my time and help in something connected to my own community.”

Mahi Ballu also expressed gratitude for the opportunity, sharing that being invited to participate in this initiative meant a lot and gave her a chance to contribute to something meaningful.

This visit was not just about organising books — it was about connecting with our roots, understanding our scriptures, and taking responsibility for preserving our religious heritage.

Experiences like these remind us that even small contributions can help protect centuries of wisdom. Through collective efforts, initiatives like Shrut Seva ensure that Jain literature continues to inspire and guide future generations.
